Local Future Leaders Meet in Turkey

Since 2012, the Confederation of Municipalities of Turkey has hosted the International Local Government Training Programme (LOCALINTERNational), a yearly event that aims to train participants in local governance through lectures, real-world examples, field trips, social activities, and excursions to different Turkish cities. Since the initial session, it has offered a diverse group of participants from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East an international training setting where they could learn, interact, and witness examples of excellent practises and municipal work. Recent graduates and university students from the previous academic year attend the programme. Future local leaders can participate in social and cultural events, field trips, and trainings thanks to the programme.

Our Federation is constantly excited to welcome worthwhile young people and give them useful local government experience. Together with more objective factors like grade point average and proficiency in English, candidates are judged on their passion for the programme.

The Federation of Municipalities of Turkey pays for all of the participants’ costs, including travel, lodging, and other expenditures related to their participation in the programme. Participants also get certificates upon completion of the programme.
