The goal of the program is that Fred J. Hansen wants to create a more peaceful world through international cooperation. He desired for people from other countries to visit the United States to learn more about its culture, economy, and government. In return, he wanted the people of the United States to be better informed about the wider world, its people, and its customs. He knew it would take principled, passionate, and tireless leadership to realize this vision.

So, he founded and funds this program for students around the world!
